Pontefract Races



Racing in Pontefract was first recorded in 1648 and the racecourse is tightly woven into the fabric of Wakefield and Yorkshire. We’ve worked with Pontefract Races since 2012.  Pontefract Racecourse were keen to promote the events and days out such as Beer Festivals and Music Nights these have happened every year since 2017 (apart from 2020 / 2021 – due to COVID 19).



With online audience

Our first challenge was to create website, we worked closely with the marketing team to understand the customer user experience. The design structure was developed around the users’ needs and is regularly updated.

Our team manage monthly social media content and email newsletters.

Race day fun

Adworks have created content from static images to animation and video for events and promotional day. This content is used across a variety of digital and printed media.  Projects include full management of image development:

  • A full advertising plan includes LED screens, content for Capital Radio, paid social media, outdoor and printed press media.
  • The Trinity Walk screens are located in the shopping centre and provide an opportunity to promote within areas of high footfall
  • Media plans included poster sites at Leeds rail station, Pontefract and Castleford. These were supported by Adwalkers handing out leaflets and eco-friendly Adbikes with promotional posters.
  • Social media adverts with a strong call to action planned around core audiences ABC1 adults.
  • We create brochures, race cards and promotional Point of Sale. We have also developed all the signage for the racecourse areas.

30” promotional videos were produced to support the overarching media campaign, The media was planned of to be promoted over the Capital FM app and selected spots over content.
